Sony Cybershot W7: Few Shots

I bought Sony W7 in 2005. This was my first digital camera. I took thousands of shots in point and shoot mode. But now I am taking shots in "manual" mode results are much better. Manual mode one of the option it has got, which I never tried seriously. May be this is the time to buy a DSLR camera. Here are few shots I took in last four year. Although camera can shoot in 7.2 mega pixel size, considering the storage problem I took these in 3 mega size setting, but output show these picture are only 1.2 mg in size.

Last Mile Solution

The last leg of providing connectivity from a PSTN operator, ISP owner or Cable TV operator to a customer. Also called "First Mile" from subscriber point of view. Traditionally it is done by copper wires, you may find that connects your old telephone set to nearest telephone exchange. Copper wires carry analog signals generated by telephone equipment, including fax machines. Analog technology is by nature a less precise signaling technology than digital technology. Increasing demand for information access it became a big question to reach the unreachable.

Most subscribers, however, log on to this network through copper lines with limited capacity. This creates a bottleneck for advancing technologies that increasingly require greater bandwidth. Last-mile technology represents a major remaining challenge because the cost of providing high-bandwidth services to individual subscribers in remote areas can be higher than the service provider would like. Laying wire and fiber optic cables is an expensive undertaking that can be environmentally demanding and require high maintenance. Wireless networks will eventually provide the solution.

Existing last-mile solutions are:

Physical lines

  • Plain Old Telephone Systems (POTS), fixed copper wire.
  • ISDN, a somewhat faster technology than regular phone service. Not so popular.
  • Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) (or ADSL) over existing telephone twisted pair lines. very popular
  • cable and the Cable modem, for data, using the same installed coaxial cable that already is used for television
  • Optical fiber and its transmission technologies, therefore FTTH/FTTB (fiber to the home/Fiber to the Building).
Wireless
  • wireless (WLL, Wi-fi, Wi-Max) and including satellite services such as Direct TV)

My mom and her recipe

It is one of her favorite dish. She taught the recipe to my wife. Egg, curd, Amra (Hog Plum, A tropical fruit, sour-sweet in taste). Preparation is similar to Korma. Tribute to My Mom.

My mom, Samsunnahar, kept her family small, give higher education to all of her children, helped my dad to lead an honest life, help those who took shelter in our house. She believed in religious living, yet she was practical in decision making. She left us on 1 Sept 2009 at age of 75. May Allah forgive her sin and place in jannah.

Bad is better than good

1.Members our family are forbidden to visit my aunt`s house. Many of village people believes that house is haunted. Location of the house makes people scary. Lot of trees, canal, little isolation from the village plays a big role for the believe. Story goes like this: Her neighbor visited Kamrup of India to learn black magic, Kamrup is notorious place for the black magic. After coming back he innocently tried his expertise on neighbor`s house, my aunts house. After casting the spell he died. So no guru is there for removing the bad spell. Many people frighten to death by shadowy appearance of animal like object. My mom also remember few facts & terrible nightmares. One day one black magic guru came. He try to remove the spell. He was supposed to visit all four corners of the house and read some 'mantra' remove the spell. But at first corner he fell to ground, as if somebody slapped him in his face. "Ginnie" seems stronger than Guru.

2. Few days back I got a mail. it was offer of free anti-virus. The mail has two button to press, 'yes` and `no'. Usually I don`t respond to obnoxious mail, I delete them. But this time I opted for "no". No sooner than I press no, I realized I made a grave mistake. I triggered a virus. Virus looks very silly. One text of three words start to float all around the screen of the monitor. Looks very harm less.Sometimes it hinders important buttons to click, Annoying. This was the virus. Than I downloaded 'AVG' anti-virus for free from net. We like free softwares very much, here in Bangladesh. Anyway I run the AVG, the anti-virus. Good news: Virus was gone, Bad news: I can not run Office Excel. My expert friend came for resque. After 3 hour of hard try, he said "your Antivirus is corrupted by Virus. So virus is stronger than anti-virus.

Short trip to Sonargaon

A good outing is combination of many things: variation of locations, flexible timing, economy and enough relaxation. I prefer combination of different ages to make a team. Specially I like to make happy my old mom. In a single visit we visited an archealogical site (Ancient Capital of Bangla, Sonargaon), took a river cruise in a country boat (River Meghna), made a halt at highway inn (Castle Sea food Restaurant), than took home made lunch in an orchard (Madanganj) and visited a new location (Tajmahal of Bangladesh). Two of my instant decision made they journey more interesting and less tiring. One is haltage at highway inn, which wife forbade, fearing the price. But after the haltage everybody seems very happy. They have few rooms to relax, wash room, ponds, shadow tree and labyrinth of walkway dotted by shades. If I feel tired what my old mom of 72 years old could have felt like. Oh somebody save my english. We propose them "We will buy drinks from you, but we will eat our food." They opposed no food from outside is allowed. While we took colorless cold drink my son and his desciple preffered coke. My son of grade 2 and his cousine of grade 1 has Guru and desciple relations. What one will take another will follow. They fullfill our recuirement of noise. So our team is consist of 10 person from three family.13 Aug 2009.

Panam, Sonargaon: Picture Book

Panam Bridge
My son Tikhon and his cousin Abid did not think it is a worthy place to visit, no play ground no food shop.
Sonargaon, was capital of ancient bengal, Grand Trunk road starts here.

Panam had altogether been a Hindu populated area. The migration of the Hindus to India after the Indo-Pak War of 1965 has reduced Panamnagar into an empty township.

Now this ponds are use for fish firming.

See Panam in Bangalpedia.

Tajmahal in Bangladesh?!

A newly build tourist attraction of Bangladesh. Inspired from Tajmahal of India, Bangladesh has it`s own version. within 30 km from Capital city Dhaka, at Sonargaon.

Designing a Balcony Garden

I am working on my balcony garden. Tropical area is not good place make balcony garden, because flowering plant are much less than Europe (cold area). But to make it beautiful, I start experimenting. Perennial flowering plants are rare. Only in winter some garden flower may be grown, which dies soon. Formula should be useful to all who want to make such garden. Points of consideration are -

1. Balcony is small place.
2. No of variety of plant should be less.
3. Foliage should be very different to each other (Color, Texture and Appearance).
4. Avoid flowering plants.
5. Arrangement of plant should be according to height, short to tall. Arrange them like group photography.
6. There should be a theme plant, which will dominate in color.
7. Flowering plant is not mandatory.
8. After garden is set now you can add carefully some flowering and vegetable plants.
